When in doubt, surf it out
There are several surf schools within a 500m radius in Weligama, so there is no shortage of lessons for those wanting to learn to surf. There is one Beach Break, the Weligama Beach Break (best for beginners), while the Reef breaks are Kabalana, Midigama, Ram's Point, Plantation Point, and Two Secrets Point.
We offer a selection of surfboards, bodyboards, and stand up paddleboards for you to glide on through the ocean and to perfect your technique while lessons are on offer with our qualified instructors. All surf lessons will be for 1.5 hours.
Weligama Bay Surf Point
The town's beach break is a hotspot for surfing and is tailor-made for beginners. The secondary swell that rolls in at chest height is perfect for those taking on lessons or just beginning to take on the waves on their own. Meanwhile, more experienced riders can enjoy double overheads and rather quick rides out back, even when it's a more chill swell on the secondary.
